Client: Professional couple living in a flint farmhouse nestled at the base of the South Downs, near Ditchling, East Sussex
Project: Garden design for the rear garden, that enjoys views of the woods and the escarpment.
Style: Classic, with a modern touch in the styling and the planting design.

We designed the garden with a journey in mind. The idea being they start with an apéritif at the outdoor kitchen while preparing the food, before moving to the dining table to eat with friends, then retiring to the relaxed seating for a post dinner coffee. Then after the guests have left, the couple can move up to the recliners and watch the stars while enjoying an aged malt whisky.
Flint walls with brick quoins, and vintage limestone paving with brick detail ensure the garden and house sit seamlessly together, and the garden nestles into the wider landscape. The planting design is sumptuous with seasonal interest, using classic country garden plant varieties in a contemporary scheme. Planting will soften the terraces, and includes a feature border in front of the arched window.
