Surrey Hills Country Garden
I was invited to see this wonderful garden by the designers Acres Wild before the house was sold and the garden no longer open to the public.
This is an award winning garden, and one that I have wanted to see for a while.
Rolling out over a number of acres, the garden comprises of a stone terrace with a formal pond, a swimming pool, an avenue of pleached lime, a huge kitchen garden with 2 grand greenhouses, and a number of circular garden rooms and features, all formed along a number of axis that are drawn out from the house.
A large lake at the end of the garden is a perfect resting place in the heat of the day. Bridges, decks and seating, and also a boat and boat house make walking around the water interesting and exciting.
There were a number of details and nuances that caught my eye. These included paving detail, plant combinations, and the various seating positioned in key points around the garden, all of which made you stop and absorb, and be inspired. As garden designers we need to be inspired constantly, and this garden was full of this.
Have a look at the gallery below for more images of the wider garden.
